Trump recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital - LP 303

President Trump has recognized Jerusalem as the Israeli capital on Wednesday and announced plans to relocate the US embassy there.

According to observers around the world, this could potentially increase tensions in the region and affect a peaceful prospect for this hot land. Is it a fact that people think US President Donald Trump unilaterally recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel?

The Jerusalem situation that we should know is that Israel has long regarded Israel as its capital, while Palestinians claim East Jerusalem is the capital of the future Palestinian state. So with the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the United States will become the first country to do so since the state of Israel was proclaimed in 1948.

It should be clear, however, that, according to senior officials, in addition to recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the specific boundaries of the capital will remain under the final agreement. At the same time the condition of the shrines will not be affected.

President Trump also emphasized that his statement did not mark a change in US policy on the final boundary of the Israeli and Palestinian states in the future. Countries around the world, such as Jordan, Palestine and Egypt, have reacted differently to this, but they have always wished not undermine efforts to resume the peace process.

Let us meditate when the media reports that President Trump acknowledged Wednesday that little progress has been made in promoting his government's peace, as Trump states that " we are no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians" than two decades earlier.

Some information about  Jerusalem:
Jerusalem is a city in the Middle East, located on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. Israelis and Palestinians both claim Jerusalem as their capital, as the State of Israel maintains its primary governmental institutions there while the State of Palestine ultimately foresees the city as its seat of power; however, neither claim is widely recognized internationally.

In 2015, Jerusalem had a population of some 850,000 residents, comprising ca. 200,000 secular Jewish Israelis, 350,000 Ultra-Orthodox Jews and 300,000 Palestinians.

Jerusalem is 60 kilometers (37 mi) east of Tel Aviv and the Mediterranean Sea. On the opposite side of the city, approximately 35 kilometers (22 mi) away, is the Dead Sea, the lowest body of water on Earth. Neighboring cities and towns include Bethlehem and Beit Jala to the south, Abu Dis and Ma'ale Adumim to the east, Mevaseret Zion to the west, and Ramallah and Giv'at Ze'ev to the north.

Mount Herzl, at the western side of the city near the Jerusalem Forest, serves as the national cemetery of Israel. The city is characterized by a hot-summer Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, and mild, wet winters. Snow flurries usually occur once or twice a winter, although the city experiences heavy snowfall every three to four years, on average, with short-lived accumulation.

Jerusalem is not only one of the oldest cities in the world but also a holy place of three great religions: Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Throughout the 5,000 years of history, Jerusalem has been conquered, destroyed, rebuilt and resurrected. The Jerusalem Fort (now the David Museum of Jerusalem History) is a fortress containing artifacts dating back 2,000 years.
