Usain Bolt loses out to Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman
in 100m final at world athletics championships
Justin Gatlin was born on February 10, 1982. He is an
American track and field sprinter who specializes in the 100 metres and 200
metres events. He is the 2004 Olympic champion in the 100 metres, the 2005 and
2017 World champion in the same event, and the 2005 World champion in the 200
metres.
At the age of 35, Gatlin won the gold medal in the 100
metres at the 2017 World Championships, a full 12 years after his first triumph
in the event; in doing so, he defeated three time world and Olympic champion,
Usain Bolt in the latters' final individual race at the 2017 World
Championships in Athletics in London.
Many have said that Justin Gatlin ruined Usain Bolt's
farewell party when the 35-year-old American won the world title 100m on Sunday
(AEST), beating Jamaican superstar in third place.
Gatlin was up and down to win in 9.92 seconds. Christian
Coleman, a 21-year-old American who switched to professionalism only a few
weeks ago, took the silver in 9.94. Meanwhile Usain Bolt ends at 9.95.
Although there are even rumors of condemnation, with twice
banned for drug abuse, Gatlin is actually still the biggest winner in the 100m
finals.
More info about Justin Gatlin:
