Volunteers perfect the contract to coach Greg Schiano.

Gregory Edward Schiano was born June 1, 1966. He is currently the Ohio State Buckeyes Prevention Team Coordinator. He also served as the main football coach at Rutgers University from 2001 to 2011 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers National Football League from 2012 to 2013.

It is reported that Tennessee is completing a contract with Greg Schiano to name him as their head coach. One day after they lost 50-17 in Missouri to fall 0-6 at the SEC play, The Volunteers fired Butch Jones on November 12, 2017. He is currently the defensive coordinator at Ohio State.
Schiano started his coaching career in 1988 as an assistant coach at Ramapo High School for the Raiders. In 1989, he worked as an assistant to Rutgers.

In 1990, he held the same position at Penn State, and then coached defensive defenders from 1991 to 1995. From 1996 to 1998, Schiano was assistant coach of the NFL with the Chicago Bears. With his first two seasons there, he was a defensive assistant, and then promoted to his third and final season with the Bears to train defenders.

Schiano served as defensive coordinator at the University of Miami from 1999 to 2000. In 1999, Miami came in at No. 12 in the IAA Lion of the IAA in each of the allowed points (17.2), and in 2000 Up to 5 points (15.5 points allowed per game). His short 18-month term in Miami and his origins in New Jersey made him the candidate for his next position as head coach at Rutgers University.

While at the University of Miami, Schiano instructed NFL slave owners Dan Morgan, Jonathan Vilma and Ed Reed. On December 1, 2000, Schiano accepted a position as head coach at Rutgers, New Jersey State University.

In 2011, Rutgers recovered from last season to post a 9-4 record and again earned a bowl game bowl. In the Pinstripe Bowl, they beat Iowa State 27-13, his last game as Rutgers coach. He led the team to win the season and dribbled bowl games in six of his last seven seasons, with wins in five bowl finals.

On January 26, 2012, Schiano accepted the first coaching opportunity at the professional football level, with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers ended the 2012 season with a 7-9 record, lacking playoffs in the process. In the 2013-2014 season, the team has recovered to 4-12.

On December 30, 2013, Buccaneers shot Schiano along with Mark Dominik, the general manager who chose him.
